Markive,

I agree with you. This is not a proper fix but a step towards getting it right. Given what we have dealt with in past this could be better than nothing.

In future I see more public facing sites abandoning Web Forms and adapting frameworks such as ASP.NET MVC which produce clean markup.

Cheers!

Sarel,

Accessing elements generated by Web Forms on client has always been painful. And this new edition is a step towards easing that pain. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Harry,

In the examples above I am showing partial markup. I guess this is the best we can get in ASP.NET 4. Of course there is plenty of room for improvement.

Why can't .Net parse the page for the ID as you set it and KEEP IT AS THAT!! It's my fault if the page has two elements with the same ID.. The whole is a total mess and really lets .net down on the client side.. I don't see this as a fix but a halfway measure..

Cool!! Now we can access elements again via javascript and jQuery, that ID specified by the compiler for nested controls was just nasty.

But looking at these examples they all create either invalid markup or are just as long and polluted as their originals. Isn't there a way to use this new feature in a clean way?
